Whale watching Juneau-style, is a 3 – 5 hour whale watching adventure that begins when you board a coach bus that departs downtown Juneau from the Mt. Roberts Tram parking lot. The 25-minute narrated journey takes you past downtown Juneau and some of the most picturesque landscape in Southeast Alaska. You’ll board one of our four custom whale watching boats at Fisherman’s Bend in Auke Bay Harbor. “All aboard!” and you’re off. Within minutes, your in prime whale watching Alaskan waters for the ultimate whale watching experience.

On your quest for whales, be on the lookout for bald eagles, seals, sea lions, black bears and more of Alaska’s wildlife. The star of the tour is the humpback whale, but keep a sharp eye for the playful orcas who hunt these waters. Once we spot a whale the captain will slow down and allow you to go on the spacious viewing decks for a great photo opportunity. We can’t approach the whales directly, but after the motors shut off and we drift for a bit, they often come to visit us! Our custom design provides unrestricted viewing from inside the cabin as well. Although the cabin is enclosed and heated we recommend you dress in layers, after all it is Alaska!

Come and meet these gentle giants face-to-spout on our custom made whale watching boats. With our experienced captains and Juneau being one of the best ports for whale watching in Alaska, this tour will be an unforgettable experience. Our two jet boats, the K’eet and the S’eek offer incredible, water level views of the whales from a heated cabin. In 2011 and 2012 we added two new Catamaran’s The L’ook and The Rochelle B. Designed and fabricated by Armstrong Marine, these vessels offer outstanding stability and incredible views. With 28 and 49 seats respectively, these provide the most stable ride while retaining all the value of a small boat whale watching experience.

Whale Watching Itinerary (3 hours)

• Pick up at the cruse ship terminal near the Mount Roberts Tramway
• Narrated shuttle ride to Fisherman’s Bend in Auke Bay with views of the
• Mendenhall Glacier along the way (weather permitting)
• 2-hour whale watching journey in the Inside Passage
• A light snack and refreshments will be provided. Bathroom on board.
• Optional trip to the Mendenhall Glacier add 1 – 3 hours
• Optional City Tour add 30 – 45 minutes
• Return to cruise ship terminal
